Our Story

Founded in 2014, Nerevu is Swahili for intelligent and the culmination of President and Founder Reuben Cummings’ quest to democratize data. After graduating from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in 2005 with a degree in Chemical Engineering, Reuben worked as a business consultant at MIDIOR Consulting helping clients improve their product development processes.

Then in 2010, wanting to see more of the world, Reuben moved to Arusha, Tanzania to work for Global Cycle Solutions (GCS), an MIT startup with a mission to develop affordable technologies for rural villagers.

After working in a variety of business and technical roles for almost three years, Reuben left GCS to pursue freelance web development in Tanzania. Over the next two years, Reuben laid the groundwork for his budding data analytics firm, and formed Nerevu Development as a sole proprietorship in 2014.

Fours years later, Reuben followed his heart and returned to his home town of Peoria, IL where he set up shop at The Nest Coworking in the Warehouse District in 2018.

Reuben marked this next chapter of Nerevu by incorporating in Illinois as Nerevu Group, LLC in January 2019. The change from “Development” to “Group” signified a shift from focusing on the tools and processes we use (web development and data analytics) to the benefits and outcomes we produce for our clients (increased productivity and profits).

Drawing on the commonalities between client engagements over the years, Nerevu has evolved to provide a suite of products and services to help businesses identify and track the key factors driving their growth.
